I have to admit, the show was incredible. Sabrina and his band we’re absolutely stunning on stage, real performers with a true sense of connection to the audience. It was a night to remember, and for a moment as we watch from the sidelines I completely forget about what is coming next until, of course, I notice Sabrina himself making eyes at my wife right in front of me.

Allison loves it, swooning passionately and flirting back with a wink and a wave of her own. It’s on.

The band finishes up and the whole group of us is lead back to a pack of busses that are parked behind the arena complex. The band has a bus to share between them while Sabrina Smith has a bus of her own, with plenty of room. This is where my wife and I will be riding.

After saying goodbye to the rest of the band, we climb up the steps and onto Sabrina’s bus. A rotund driver greets us, shaking our hands and directing us towards a set of two bunks in a hallway of many.

“Which one is Sabrina’s?” my wife asks.

The driver just nods straight back. “She doesn’t sleep in a bunk. Sabrina stays in the back lounge most of the time, she’s already in there if you want to say hello.”

“Oh, I wouldn’t want to interrupt,” Allison explains.

The driver shrugs. “Whatever. We’re about to leave now. She’ll probably come out and say hi at some point.”

Eventually, the bus exits the arena parking lot and starts rumbling down the road. Sabrina is nowhere to be found, remaining locked away in the back lounge for the first several hours of the ride.

“Maybe she’s just fallen asleep,” I suggest to Allison, whose eyes drop in disappointment.

“Our plan is never going to work now,” my wife says.

Her frustration breaks my heart in some strange way, and I try to be encouraging. “Why do you go check on her?” I finally say.

“Really?” Allison asks.

“Why not?” I tell her. “It can’t hurt. I mean, who doesn’t want to get woken up by a beautiful woman.”

“But what if she invites me in?” Allison asks me, concerned. “I mean, she is a rock star after all, that’s what happens on these busses.”

My heart is pounding a mile a minute now, nearly beating right out of my chest, but I nod in acceptance. “Then I’ll be very happy.”

Allison eyes me for a minute, trying to understand my actions until finally giving up. “You’re amazing,” she says, giving me a quick kiss before standing up and making her way to the door of the back lounge. She knocks twice and waits.

From where I’m sitting, all I can see is the door slide open and my wife exchanging a few words with Sabrina, she looks back over her shoulder at me for a moment, considering something, and then finally steps inside. She closes the door behind her.

Now I’m alone, sitting on a couch at the front of the bus and watching the scenery float by.
